Beginning in 1936, tunnel facilities for underground oil storage were created in the Kohnstein Mountain near Nordhausen. In 1943 these facilities were altered by concentration camp inmates to serve as a rocket factory. Bornemann depicts the history of the Kohnstein and the tunnel system during World War II. The complex collaboration among all parties involved in the relocation of the factories is presented in a clearly structured manner.
