Relaunch of Websites

The websites of the Foundation and the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora memorials have been completely revised. Visitors, multipliers and researchers now receive the information they need in a concise and targeted manner.

05.04.2023

With the relaunch of its websites, the Foundation is pursuing three main goals:

  •     Greater autonomy for the historical sites under the Foundation's umbrella,
  •     targeted offers for the different interests of visitors, multipliers and researchers, and
  •     historical orientation to strengthen critical historical awareness.

Since the beginning of April 2023, both memorials have had their own websites (www.buchenwald.de, www.dora.de) with which they provide information about the specifics of the historical sites. The memorials want to counter disinformation and "fake news" on the Internet with scientifically sound, serious content.

At the same time, the two new websites of the memorials provide visitors with numerous, concrete tips for a stay in Buchenwald or Mittelbau-Dora. Additional offers such as the web app "Figuring things out" (only available in German) enable new ways of approaching the historical site - using digitalised objects from the Buchenwald Memorial collection.

In view of the rise of racism and nationalism, the Foundation's website will also offer orientation and references to current events. Arguing from history, it advocates a humane, democratic and cosmopolitan society.

The new websites were designed and programmed by the Berlin office Henkelhiedl using the content management system Magnolia.
