Bundesfreiwilligendienst (BFD, Federal Volunteers Service) at the Mittelbau-Dora Concentration Camp Memorial

The Mittelbau-Dora Concentration Camp Memorial offers opportunities for those taking part in the BFD programme. Each year there are three positions available in the fields of "culture and education" (2 positions) and "politics" (1 position). The BFD programme lasts 12 months and begins each year on September 1.

A core aspect of a volunteer's responsibilities at the memorial is pedagogical work with visitors. After an intensive training period in a team, volunteers work independently with tourists as well as registered groups. On a daily basis, volunteers encounter national and international guests. They introduce these visitors to the historical site and convey its contemporary significance.

Detailed information about the responsibilities that a volunteer year at the Mittelbau-Dora Concentration Camp Memorial entails and about the application process can be found on the website of the Landesvereinigung Kulturelle Jugendbildung Thüringen e.V.
