Closed December 24 – 26, December 31, and January 1.
The exhibitions are closed on Mondays, except on public holidays that fall on a Monday. The outdoor facilities can be visited every day until dusk.
We offer guided tours daily at 11 am and 2 pm. (The underground tunnel system can only be visited as part of a guided tour.)

The museum café will unfortunately remain closed until further notice.
Other Practical Information
Admission
Visits to the memorial and exhibitions are free of charge. A guided tour costs 7 Euro adults or 3 Euro reduced (trainees, pupils, students, people with disabilities and social welfare recipients, for members of the Thüringer Ehrenamtscard and the Thüringer Mehrkindfamilienkarte). For members of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and the Deutscher Museumsbund (DMB), participation in public tours of the Mittelbau Memorial is free of charge.
App
To enable visitors to tour the grounds of the former camp independently, our "Mittelbau" app (free download available from the Apple Store and Google Play Store) provides historical information, photos, and eyewitness accounts. Visitors can also use the app to explore the permanent exhibition. These self-guided tours are available in German, English, French, and Dutch.
Please make sure to download the app to your smartphone prior to your visit and to bring your own headphones.
Alternatively, you can borrow the multimedia guide from Visitor Information at the memorial. Price per person: 5 Euro.
Clothing
Temperatures in the underground tunnel are around 8°C all year round. We recommend warm clothing and sturdy shoes.
Visiting with Children
We recommend visiting the museum, the tunnel complex, and the former crematorium only with children who are in 9th grade and older.
Visiting with Dogs
Dogs are not allowed on the grounds of the former inmates' camp or in the buildings (except guide dogs for the blind and assistance dogs with identifying dog jackets). Beyond these areas, dogs are permitted on a lead.
Visiting the Tunnels

Filming and Photographs
Filming and taking photographs are permitted for private purposes on the grounds of the Mittelbau-Dora Memorial. To publish videos and photos (also on the Internet, for example on Facebook), you must obtain a photo and filming permit.

By Car or Coach
Motorway A38 (Göttingen – Leipzig): Take Exit 10 ("Nordhausen West"), 11 ("Nordhausen"), or 12 ("Heringen"), continue towards Nordhausen, follow the signs to the Mittelbau-Dora Memorial.
Route B4 (Erfurt – Braunlage – Bad Harzburg – Braunschweig): At Nordhausen follow the signs to the Mittelbau-Dora Memorial.
Route B81 (Magdeburg – Halberstadt – Nordhausen): From Netzkater take Route B4 towards Nordhausen, follow the signs to the Mittelbau-Dora Memorial.
Route B85 (Weimar – Bad Frankenhausen / Kyffhäuser – Berga): From Berga head in the direction of Nordhausen, follow the signs to the Mittelbau-Dora Memorial.
Route B243 (Hanover – Hildesheim – Osterode am Harz – Nordhausen): At Nordhausen follow the signs to the Mittelbau-Dora Memorial.
Route B249 (Eschwege – Mühlhausen – Sondershausen): At Sondershausen take Route B4 towards Nordhausen, follow the signs to the Mittelbau-Dora Memorial.
There is free parking on the grounds of the memorial.
Please note that it is not permitted to spend the night in a vehicle or tent anywhere on the grounds of the memorial.
Streetcar
Line 10 (Nordhausen / Krankenhaus – Bahnhofsplatz – Ilfeld / Neanderklinik): Get off at Nordhausen Krimderode. From there, the walk to the Mittelbau-Dora Memorial takes 20 to 30 minutes.

Harzer Schmalspurbahn (Narrow-gauge Railway)
Line 326 "Harzquerbahn" (Nordhausen Bahnhofsplatz – Drei Annen Hohne – Wernigerode): Get off at Nordhausen-Krimderode. From there, the walk to the Mittelbau-Dora Memorial takes 20 to 30 minutes.

Rufbus (Call-a-bus)
The memorial is accessible by public bus ("Rufbus", line G) by making prior arrangements by telephone. Nordhausen municipal transport company offers six connections a day, Monday to Friday.
Departure is from Nordhausen / Bahnhofsplatz at 8:40 am, 9:40 am, 10:40 am, 11:40 am, 12:40 pm, and 1:40 pm. Travel time to the Mittelbau-Dora Memorial stop is approx. 12 minutes.
Departure from the Mittelbau-Dora Memorial is at 12:53 pm, 1:53 pm, 2:53 pm, 3:53 pm, 4:53 pm, and 5:53 pm. Travel time to Nordhausen / Bahnhofsplatz is approx. 16 minutes.
Reservations for the call-a-bus can be made with Verkehrsbetriebe Nordhausen free of charge up to one hour before the scheduled departure at +49 (0)800/6396390. For pre-registered groups, the Visitor Information at the memorial can gladly organize the call-a-bus upon request.
